After our flight from Doha to Kathmandu, we met Pinkey and Binod (two of the leaders of HealthEd Connect in Nepal) at the airport and transferred to a domestic flight to
Biratnagar. This city is the second largest in Nepal and is very close geographically and culturally to India. Our time here thus far has reminded me a lot of my experiences in Rajasthan and Gujarat, especially in regards to climate, food, flora, and fauna. On Monday, we traveled by taxi to a village in Biratnagar where one of our healthcare workers (Soyambika) named Sangita took us to visit some of her patients and get a better understanding for the needs of the Nepali people. The most common ailments we heard were related to Blood Pressure, although we also heard about some issues with diabetes, a broken leg from a motorcycle accident, a new born baby, and various ailments. We acquired a small entourage of village children as we made our rounds.
